Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
Grounded is designed to be a private, personal experience focused on reflection, reading, and spiritual growth.
We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about how your information is handled.
Information we collect
Grounded does not collect or store personally identifiable information for users who do not create an account.
If you choose to create an optional account, we collect your email address solely to enable account features such as syncing your saved verses, journal entries, and preferences across devices. Your email is not used for marketing and is not sold.
We may collect limited data such as:
- App usage data (to improve performance and experience, and for product analytics)
- Device type and general technical information
- Limited app activity signals used for install attribution and campaign measurement on iOS (see Meta App Events below)
Your personal content
Your personal reflections, journal entries, and inputs are not monitored, sold, or shared for advertising.
Where possible, this information is stored locally on your device and remains private to you.
AI processing
Grounded includes features that generate responses based on selected content (such as “Explain this chapter” or guided reflections).
When you use these features:
- The selected text (such as a verse or prompt) may be sent securely to a third-party AI service (such as OpenAI) to generate a response.
- No personally identifiable information is required or intentionally collected for this process.
- Responses are generated in real time and are not used to identify you personally.
How your information is used
Limited data collected is used to:
- Improve app functionality and performance
- Enhance user experience
- Maintain reliability and stability
- Operate subscriptions and account features
- Measure campaign performance and app installs (where applicable)
Grounded may share limited information with service providers that help us operate the app, measure campaign performance, process subscriptions, provide app functionality, and improve reliability. These providers may process information only for the services they provide to Grounded. Grounded does not sell personal information.
Grounded does not knowingly share personal information for unrelated third-party behavioral advertising. Data may still be processed by service providers for analytics, attribution, app operation, subscription management, security, and campaign measurement.
Third-party services
Grounded uses third-party service providers including Meta/Facebook, Supabase, RevenueCat, OpenAI, Vercel, and Apple services where applicable. These providers support functionality such as authentication, hosting, AI features, subscriptions, analytics, attribution, and campaign measurement.
- Supabase — our backend database and authentication provider. If you create an account, your email address and app data are stored securely in Supabase.
- OpenAI — powers AI-generated responses (such as scripture explanations and guided reflections). Selected text may be sent to OpenAI to generate a response.
- RevenueCat — manages subscription status and in-app purchase verification. On iOS, Apple AdServices attribution may also be used for Apple Search Ads measurement.
- Vercel — hosts the web version of Grounded and our API. Standard request metadata may be processed during normal operation.
- Apple — processes App Store purchases, notifications, and related platform services according to Apple’s privacy terms.
- Meta / Facebook — used on iOS for limited app analytics, campaign measurement, install attribution, and app activation events (details below).
These services do not receive your personal reflections, journal entries, or other private content, except where you explicitly send selected text to an AI feature.
Meta App Events
Grounded uses the Meta SDK on iOS to receive limited information about app installs, app activation, and campaign performance. Advertiser identifier collection is disabled, and Grounded does not request permission to access the IDFA. Meta may process automatically logged app event and device information according to its own privacy terms.
In the current implementation:
- Meta App Events auto-logging is enabled for basic activation and install-related signals.
- Advertiser ID collection in the Meta SDK is disabled.
- Grounded does not request App Tracking Transparency permission.
- Grounded does not use the IDFA in the current implementation.
- Grounded does not currently send custom Meta purchase or user-defined events.
There is no Android Meta SDK and no web Meta Pixel in the Grounded app at this time. Product analytics used to improve Grounded are sent to our own analytics pipeline (via Supabase), separate from Meta. The full public policy is also available at getgroundedapp.com/privacy.
Data security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information. However, no system can guarantee 100% security.
Your privacy
Grounded is built to be a safe, private space.
Your reflections, thoughts, and personal moments are yours alone.
Account deletion
If you create an account, you can delete it anytime in Settings → Account → Delete account. Deleting your account removes your sign-in from our servers. You can also email support@getgroundedapp.com for help.
Children’s privacy
Grounded is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date.
